Russian, US Talks on Ukraine Described as Productive
Ushakov made these remarks following a five-hour session on Tuesday involving Putin, his envoy Kirill Dmitriev, and Witkoff, which concluded after midnight local time.
“No compromises have been achieved so far,” Ushakov noted, adding that there are currently no plans for a direct meeting between Putin and Trump.
He explained, “We discussed the substance, not specific wording and solutions. The parties see enormous potential for cooperation.”
“Some American proposals are acceptable to Russia... others are not,” Ushakov added, emphasizing that territorial issues were also addressed during the discussions.
When asked if the talks brought peace closer or farther, Ushakov responded, “Definitely not further.”
The aide revealed that the US delegation provided their Russian counterparts with four additional documents concerning a resolution to the Ukraine conflict.
Dmitriev described the meeting on X as “productive,” while Witkoff proceeded directly to the US Embassy compound afterward.
