Putin Calls for Urgent Reform of Russian Military
Speaking at a Moscow meeting on Wednesday, Putin declared, “Our task is to formulate a new long-term program for the entire range of systems and types of weapons, including promising ones, making maximum use of the experience of the special military operation, various regional conflicts, and global trends in military technologies.”
He underscored the critical importance of the nuclear triad, calling it “a guarantee of Russia’s sovereignty,” and highlighted that Russia’s modern weapons now represent 95% of this triad—the highest proportion worldwide.
Further, Putin urged a rapid and substantial expansion of Russia’s ground forces’ capabilities, insisting on preparations for bases and airfields to be ready to deploy new weapon systems securely, rather than “in an open field.”
